Hey there its Tom Challan here with you again from Priority Team! And today I want to talk about the things that you need to avoid when talking to prospects. These are the slip ups that lots of network marketers make and it can be damaging to your success. This will be a short post, but its something that you can fix right away that will increase your effectiveness in your recruiting.
There are the phrases that I hear lots of my clients saying during a call that are detrimental to whether or not that prospect enrolls! Now, I’m not letting myself off the hook so easy, because I myself make these mistakes too. Everyone makes these sort of slip ups, but the point here is to prune it back as much as possible so that we can be more effective in our prospecting.
Here is the phrase to avoid: “Do you have a few minutes?”.
When some people call their prospects, I hear this one SO many times. If you ask them if they have a few minutses, they will give you the same response that YOU give to people at the mall when you are asked by a salesman “Do you need help with something?”. Even though we may actually need the help or some assistance, what do we normally say? “No thanks, Im just looking”. Right? We need to do our best to prune this out of our calls. The mindset that you need to have is that YOU are the business person interviewing someone who has the opportunity to be making a six figure income. You need to have the mindset that YOU are giving THEM a chance to join something successful. You need to make it so that THEY are dependent on you, not the other way around.
Think about this, if you were being interviewed by Bill Gates and he calls you to follow up, he’s not going to be saying “Hey Mary, this is Bill Gates calling you back in reference to that six figure position here at Microsoft, do you have a few minutes?” He’s not going to say that, right? He is going to be quick, direct, and to the point. Im not saying you have to be rude and where you come across cocky, but you need to come off CONFIDENT that you are the one giving THEM the opportunity to work with YOU.
Your confidence can be heard over the phone, so you need to convey it accordingly. If you sound shaky or nervous, your prospects will never believe that YOU have what they need if you don’t sound like you’re so sure yourself.
