How to build your business on YOUR terms

People often ask me, “Tom, when is the best time to work on my business?”

Years ago my old answer “when THEY are available”. However, this just goes to show how much I truly valued my time.

After years of calling prospects back on their time and when they were available, I decided that I just didn’t want to do that anymore. I no longer wanted to be a self-employed “slave”. I wanted to be a business owner. I wanted to have my time for myself and my family.

The last thing on earth I could ever want is someone else controlling my time throughout the day! I’m sure you can relate to that as well.

My prospecting hours are from 6:30am – 12 pm and then I am DONE for the day. That is what you need to do with your time. You don’t have to build at the same time I do, but there needs to be a set time in your day where you say “Okay, I’m done for the day.” You will be amazed as to how much work you get done!

So the big tip here is – don’t prospect on your knees

Treat yourself and your business as if you were Bill Gates or Donald Trump trying to pre-screen your next hire. How different would your posture be? As you can imagine, your posture would go up quite a lot.

When you do this, something magical will start to happen. All of the sudden, your PROSPECTS will now try their best to “fit in” to YOUR schedule. Isn’t that amazing?

When you master this, you will collapse time frames and work the business on your terms instead of other peoples’

In summary, the best time is the time that YOU want to build and when you CAN build.

The 3 Step Map – Part 2

In “The 3 Step Map – Part 1″ we talked about the very simple process of recruiting people into your home based business.

Step 1 was to connect with people…

Step 2 was to send them to a simple message…

And Step 3 was to follow up with them and enroll them…

So you’re probably wondering, “If it’s this simple, why do most people fail?”

That very question used to drive me crazy! It would literally keep me up for hours and hours during the night.

But then I figured it out:

They don’t start at the “starting line”

You see, most people don’t even get to the point of the 3 steps because they have so much fear, doubt, worry, self-sabotage, and other past experiences that drag them down.

They have these lies going on in their head that says “It’s your fault. You can’t do it.”

And unfortunately, most people believe these lies, which is why they fail. So the key for you is to break free from that self-sabotage and once and for all eliminate those thoughts out of your head.

Once you get past all of that junk and you can finally get to the point of just following the simple process of talking to people, sending them to a simple message, and following up/enrolling them, then you will be on the fast track to success in your home based business!

You will be going so fast that it will look like everyone else in the industry is going in slow motion – literally.

The 3 Step Map – Part 1

Simplicity is hard to come by in a home based business. Many people join a company and they set high goals and they have lofty expectations, but for some reason many don’t ever reach the goals that they intended to accomplish.

Why is that? I believe the reason is that they have made things too difficult! They have made their home based business more complex than it needs to be.

So here is a simple formula for recruiting success in your network marketing company:

1. Connect with people

You can either talk to A, people you know…

…or B, people that you don’t know.

You connect with people, tell them that you’ve got something great to show them, and then you continue to step 2 which is…

2. Send them to a simple message

This can be whichever presentation your company has put together for you. This may include a DVD, an online video, a live presentation, a free recorded message, or even a live event.

The job of the presentation is to sell and explain the opportunity…don’t leave that to yourself! Your company probably spent hours upon hours crafting it into a great message, so use it!

3. Follow up and enroll them

After they have seen the simple presentation, you simply follow up with them either over the phone or in person, ask them what they like about what they saw, and ask them if they’re ready to get started.
