3 Ways to Become a Better Listener When Prospecting

As you know, the best way to make the fastest money in network marketing is to RECRUIT more people into your business. Unfortunately, 95% of the people in this industry aren’t very skilled in this area.

But what if you could increase your skills and therefore boost your recruiting ratios? If you improved your skills just a little bit every week, you’d soon become one of the top enrollers in your company! (really)

So today I’ll give you a list of 3 things to do to increase your listening skills when prospecting. Because after all, listening is one of the foundational skills when it comes to dealing with people:

1. Understand the difference between LISTENING and HEARING

Hearing people is one thing, but truly listening is another.

Some people think that if they just don’t interrupt someone when talking, they did their job.

NO NO NO!

True LISTENING means that you not only hear what they’re saying, but you understand what they’re saying. And by the way, people can sniff out a bad listener like a shark smells blood in the water. So watch out for this one!

Ask genuinely curious questions to your prospects. Start being truly interested in their lives and they will in-turn become interested in YOU.

2. Expand on what your prospect just said

Do you want a surefire way for people to KNOW that you’re listening to them? EXPAND on what they are talking about!

When I’m talking to a friend on the phone and they respond with “Yea” or “Uh huh”, I know they weren’t listening. If I were to ask them to repeat what I just said, they most likely wouldn’t be able to.

Well, the same goes with your prospects.

If you’re prospect just said they love to Golf, start asking them some genuinely curious questions about their love for golf. How they discovered the sport, why they love it so much, etc etc.

If your questions are genuine in nature, your prospects will sense it, and they will trust you all the more for it!

3. Take your time

I recently made a video about this, but it’s worth repeating.

So many people just “go through the motions” of this industry. They make the calls, they ask the questions, but they really only care about getting the “recruit”. But if you start taking your time with people, giving them good answers to their questions, and truly listen to them, your recruiting numbers will soar through the roof.

STOP processing people like they’re a name on a list. START treating them like human beings and be genuinely interested in helping them achieve their goals.
